New home !

Virtual home i.e Mouth Shut Tight at blogspot.

Somehow the publishing options of blogger.com are far better than oldie LJ. But this one still remains for smaller and other posts. Blogspot's going to be for longer and extensive ones which don't deserve an LJ cut !

HR at its best !

NOTE : I have changed all the names and emails etc etc. This is a real conversation and I chose to post it at my free will.

I will simply call the HR "bot" at Wipro as Anisha

Anisha's Mail1 :

Hi Cethan Sukhala,

CONTRACTOR ID
Your Contractor id at Wipro Technologies is xxxxxxx.

Your Supervisor at Wipro Technologies is Himxxxxxx , Sr Tech manager, sxxxx@wipro.com, Phone No. - xxxxxx

TIMESHEETS
You must update your timesheet online for Supervisor approval. Your Supervisor will be a Wipro Technologies Manager only.

<blah blah="blah">

ID And password for accessing wipro network !!!

My response 1

Hi Anisha,

Please note that I am not Chetan Shukla as you presume.

Kindly note this change.

regards,

My Response2 :

To further clarify -

I am not employed or linked to wipro technologies in any way.

Kindly check your records for the person you intend to send it to.

regards,
Chetan

Anisha's Mail2 :
Chetan,

1 of all this is an auto generated mail which I don’t send.

2. Hence forth be a little more humane while you respond.

WTF !!! Me pissed off to the extreme -

My response 3:

Hi Anisha,

I am unaware of the bots you run at Wipro. Nor am I concerned. The mail came from your address and I responded. I had no reason to reply, but I did. You have left a security hole is even more a worse matter. So you still stand at fault with an option to correct the situation.
Also I consider it ethical enough on my part to not access your network with the userid and password you provided.

If the words "Kindly" don't ring a bell with you, that leaves me with no words.

I have been humane to the best of my abilities trying to put the situation in best possible words.

Please do not moralize or condescend on people without understanding their perspective.

regards,

Anisha's Mail 3:

Stop sending me mails……im not the concerned person for all this. Hope this is clear to you.

My response 4:
I accede to you request. I merely respond to your mails.

If you are not the concerned person state it more humanely.

Further, feel free to convey this message to whom you feel right. Or not. Choice is yours.

Silence .......... :D The suckers at HR. ::shakes head::

MS on decline ?

Being where I am currently I clearly see a decline trend for MS in the coming years. I somehow view MS as a dream of a man that came to a realization.

With Gates no longer there you'll have hardline managers with a shorter span of vision coming in to feast on a dying mammoth.

Linux is gaining ground too fast for any comfort for Microsoft. And with some giants backing and aggressively pushing Linux in areas for protecting their profit margins the writing is almost there on the wall.

The question really is - when ?

God !?

Not the right guy to dole out splosh on God, but was having an interesting discussion with a friend on ghosts.

We theorized that spirits are basically ppl exisiting at a higher frequency.

If you vibrate a fork hard enough it'll be "invisible". That accounts for low vibrating souls and "ghost sightings". So far so good.

Now for some more "theory".

So when you die what happens ?

"You" exit outta the trap that doesn't allow you to "vibrate" at a higher frequency. So powerfully is mind adapted to believe that the body is "it", that for quite sometime the spirits have a form.

The ones that realize that they need not have form they ascend higher and vibrate at higher frequencies.

They ascend higher and higher realizing that they are not dual but just one medium that vibrates at a frequency so high that it appears to be a the "substance" for lower frequencies.

THAT one medium is God !

Simple ?

Disclaimer : I was not smoking anything. Nor was I high on coffee. :D

Generation Y

I came across this passage in some article I read :

The demand is being stoked by the "Generation Y", the under-28s. They look sceptically at the idea of lifetime employment within a single organisation and they are wary of the commitment they believe too often drove their parents to the divorce courts. Hay's Ms Murlis says that today's business-school graduates are "looking for a workstyle to go with their lifestyle", not the other way round. They are happy to binge-work for a while, but in return want extended sabbaticals in which to chill out.

Does make me wonder if the world does go around in circles. Extended sabbaticals sounds sucspiciously similar to voyages of 18th Century or the "deshbhramanti" of Indian old-times.

Nature has a way of frustrating you when you least need it.

Mosquitoes.

Why can't they genetically engineer mosquitoes to make nice music instead of that stupid, brain clawing "wheen wwheee". I really don't mind the suck more than the whee.

That way we can have a bass breed, a lead breed, a drummer breed. I am a bit confused how they can implement the last breed.

I need sleep. Damn office.

Sniff my packet !?

So now the crack-heads at *AA have decided that sniff dogs can make out the FEDEX packages with pirated DVDs/CDs.

Well considering that messing with nerds is generally detrimental to health ( business or otherwise ), here were few suggestions from the Dilbert collective at slashdot

- buy a spindle of DVDs and slip a blank ( convienently labeled, "MI-III" ) with everything you ship. ( Thats physical DDOS ! Do they have laws for it yet ? )
- Instead of sending a blank, why not just burn 9.4GB of /dev/urandom onto the disk. They'll probably end up spending over $10,000 per package by calling in the *AA, the NSA, the CIA, and the DHS. After a few dozen false alarms, maybe they'll learn to stop invading customer privacy.

And in other news here's what passed through in the test ;)
- Drugs, high-explosives, weapons, decaptitated heads, those bowling ball type bombs with the wicks sticking out, a map of Afghanistan with *sama's hidden location clearly marked with an X, Sadman's WMD and a 1.44 floppy with future plans on blowing up the *apital Building all went through undetected.

Da word !

One of the longest word in English and by far the most entertaining research done on the word - Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious

I often thought this word mean "superb" until wikipedia corrected me.

Whatever the case, this word has for a long time helped me check if a pen works. :)

Shi(f)t Delete ?

Here's the description for the delete command on ext3 fs in linux (windows equivalent of shift delete) by a dude on linux community :

Man this sucks, I did that once, too. Not only does ext3 unlink your file, it zeros it out, salts the blocks it was on so nothing else can grow there, and then defecates on them for good measure.

On a sidenote, I never thought putting a really dumb candidate's resume (fibbed exp.) through the shredder could give me joy.
